About Us

Welcome to TreasureFinds.co.uk. My name is Lee, and together with my wife Clare, we are a dedicated husband-and-wife team passionate about metal detecting and uncovering the treasures of the past.

Our journey began in Wiltshire, where we unearthed Roman and Medieval artifacts that fueled our love for history. Now, we are based in Stamford, Lincolnshire, a region rich with Roman and Medieval heritage, where we hope to discover the next big treasure buried in a farmer’s field.

We are courteous and responsible in our approach, detecting by ourselves only. We always seek permission from landowners and farmers, follow all regulations, and ensure the land is left as we found it. All finds are reported to the relevant authorities to preserve Stamford’s historic legacy.

Our dream is to uncover gold and treasures from Stamford’s Roman and Medieval past, contributing to the understanding of this historic region. We believe our work not only fulfills our passion but also enriches the knowledge of Lincolnshire’s heritage.

Thank you for visiting, and we hope to work with you to uncover the hidden treasures on your land!

Work With Us

Are you a landowner or farmer in Stamford, Lincolnshire, curious about the history beneath your fields? We’re Lee and Clare, a husband-and-wife team dedicated to uncovering Roman and Medieval treasures with the utmost respect for your land.

Why Allow Metal Detecting?

Partnering with us offers unique benefits:

  • Potential Financial Rewards: Under the Treasure Act 1996, any treasure finds are split 50/50 with the landowner, potentially yielding significant payouts (e.g., the Newark Torc resulted in a £175,000 reward shared with the landowner).
  • Historical Discoveries: Uncover the hidden history of your land, contributing to Lincolnshire’s rich heritage, with all finds reported to the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS).
  • No Cost or Disruption: We work around your farming schedule, dig small holes (carefully backfilled), and leave your land as we found it.
  • Peace of Mind: We’re fully compliant with the Treasure Act, and sign clear permission agreements to protect your interests.

Our Responsible Approach

We take pride in our ethical practices:

  • Detecting only with your permission, in agreed areas.
  • Minimal land impact, avoiding crops and livestock.
  • Full transparency, with all finds reported to the PAS and coroner (if treasure).
  • Privacy protection, never disclosing your land’s location.

What Could Be Under Your Land?

The Chew Valley Hoard

In 2019, a group of metal detectorists explored a farmer’s field in Somerset’s Chew Valley, uncovering the UK’s most valuable treasure hoard: 2,584 silver coins from the Norman Conquest era, around 1066. Valued at £4.3 million, the find was declared treasure under the Treasure Act 1996 and acquired by the South West Heritage Trust. The landowner and detectorists shared the massive reward, proving that a single field can hide riches that change lives and rewrite history.

The Staffordshire Hoard

In 2009, a detectorist scanning a plowed field near Hammerwich, Staffordshire, unearthed the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver ever found, with over 3,500 artifacts, including 5.1 kg of gold. Valued at £3.285 million, the hoard was acquired by Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. The landowner shared the multi-million-pound reward, showing that treasures from the 7th century could be waiting beneath your farmland.
